What you will be doing
As an ASIC Design student you will be part of the SoC Silicon team developing Sony’s next-generation IoT chips. You will contribute directly to the creation of advanced digital systems used in real-world products. This position offers hands-on exposure to complex semiconductor projects in a highly collaborative engineering environment.
On a typical day
On a typical day, you may translate specifications into RTL, run simulations to validate your design, write scripts to automate workflows, and debug integration issues with cross-functional teams. You will also participate in design reviews, track project progress, and get guidance from senior engineers as you learn practical SoC development skills.
Responsibilities
- Participate in the full SoC development flow, from architecture definition and specification through RTL design and verification
- Design, integrate, and debug complex digital blocks and sub-systems
- Collaborate with Physical Design, Software, and Production teams for smooth system integration
- Assist in hardware-software co-design and integration for IoT applications
- Run simulations and verify SoC components to ensure correct functionality
- Develop automation tools and scripts to improve design and verification flows
- Document design processes, test results, and project progress
Requirements
- Fourth-year student in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering from a recognized university.
- Knowledge of Verilog / SystemVerilog
- Understanding of digital design and RTL development
- Familiarity with embedded systems or microcontroller architectures — advantage
- Experience with scripting languages such as Python — advantage
- Basic understanding of analog and digital circuit principles — advantage

What you will be doing
As a Test and Product Engineer at Sony Semiconductor Israel, you will design, develop, and maintain production test programs for our next-generation RF and mixed-signal ICs. You will bridge the gap between silicon design and mass production, ensuring our devices meet the highest standards of performance and quality. This role is central to delivering reliable, cutting-edge communication products to a global market.
On a typical day
Your day will involve a blend of deep technical analysis and cross-functional collaboration. You will analyze production test results to drive yield improvements, develop automated RF test sequences, and troubleshoot complex anomalies alongside RFIC design and manufacturing teams. You will also participate in defining the next generation of test hardware and methodologies, ensuring our production flows remain efficient and robust.
Responsibilities
- Test Program Development: Develop, validate, and maintain automated production test programs for advanced RF and mixed-signal ICs across various ATE platforms.
- RF Analysis & Characterization: Perform deep-dive RF system analysis and characterization in both lab and production environments to optimize performance.
- Data-Driven Insights: Analyze large volumes of test data to identify trends, perform failure analysis, and provide actionable insights to design teams.
- Hardware Design: Define and design test hardware for wafer probing and final test stages, including load boards and probe cards.
- Lifecycle Support: Drive new product introduction (NPI) from initial prototype and lab characterization through to high-volume mass production.
- Continuous Improvement: Optimize test flows to meet stringent quality, cost, and yield targets while automating manual processes.
- Collaboration: Work closely with RFIC designers to optimize performance and support debugging and yield improvement.

Requirements
- Education: B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering.
- Experience: Proven experience in semiconductor testing, product engineering, or RF validation.
- RF Expertise: Vast experience in RF systems analysis and a strong understanding of RF principles.
- Automation: A solid background in RF test automation development on any ATE platform.
- Programming: Strong programming background and software development skills (specific languages are irrelevant; the ability to build robust automation is key).
Preferred Qualifications & Advantages
- ATE Specialist: Direct experience in semiconductor engineering development on the Advantest 93K platform.
- Hardware Design: Preferable experience in Board Design (PCB) for high-frequency RF applications.
- Lab Proficiency: Hands-on experience with lab equipment (Spectrum Analyzers, Oscilloscopes, Signal Generators) and data analysis tools.

Technical Background
- Proficiency in programming languages (C, Python, or similar; Java is an advantage)
- Experience with data analysis tools (MATLAB, Python, JMP, or equivalent)
- Hands-on experience with electronic measurement equipment and ATE systems
- Familiarity with semiconductor production flows and test methodologies

As a SOC Verification student, you'll develop complex verification environments for Sony's advanced 5G IoT semiconductor products. Working directly with design and software teams, you'll take part in the verification efforts from block-level to full chip integration. Your work ensures the quality and reliability of innovative systems that power millions of connected devices worldwide.

On a typical day, you might start by analyzing test reports from overnight regressions, collaborate with designers to debug a complex protocol issue, learn and implement verification methodologies, and participate in a technical review of a new test environment.
Responsibilities
- Be a part of the SoC Silicon Verification team
- Investigate, invent, develop, innovate, and improve challenging verification environments in a full-chip platform
- Multi-disciplinary–participate in different steps of the verification flows
- Acquire thorough knowledge and understanding of cutting-edge industry technology and standards
- Work closely with the HW design team and support other team activities such as SW bring-up and debuggin
